I am so sorry that happened to your wife.

But I don’t consider the raid a “mistake”.

A “mistake” is bumping a glass of tea off the counter with your elbow.

Forcing yourself into someone’s house is not a “mistake” but an act of willful intent.

The purpose of such raids is to condition honest, law-abiding citizens into a state of fear.

If they really wanted to catch the man they were looking for, they would do honest police work and not kick down doors for the thrill of it.

They also seem to count on most people not suing because it’s such a hassle to sue. If the “visit” was on account of some known or now caught criminal, one would want to try to include that person in the suit too.
