My seat belt is always on. With a question like that, I conclude he's going to be a real prick, so I ask if I'm free to go. If he persists, I tell him I am going to exercise my 5th Amendment rights, and I would ask for a supervisor.
What you would say initially, and how do you see that conversation playing out?

I’ve had a couple in the last two years. The first one said “Mike, do you know why I pulled you over?” Nope!
That one was a blown stop sign in my neighborhood.
They have ways of toying. Just be careful. I could care less when they pull me over, they sense apprehension.
