Twenty-four hours after a police officer shot Lily, a 5-year-old Border Collie-English Setter mix, its owners still don't understand why the police officer was on their property and why he used lethal force.
... had just returned from a shopping trip and their two dogs had slipped into their truck, then into the garage, before re-emerging when an officer walked up the driveway...
Asked by the officer to control his two dogs, Mark Boling urged him not to advance, but he did. "My dogs don't bite, They're not going to hurt you," Boling, 52, an electronics technician with a defense contractor, recalled saying. "They're just going to run up to you."
A statement issued by police spokesman Sgt. Pedro Criado said the officer waited by the driveway when two barking dogs charged him in an aggressive manner while he repeatedly asked a male at the house to call the animals back. Then the unnamed officer jumped onto the porch pillar.
"As the dogs were getting closer to attack/bite the officer, the officer fired his service weapon, striking the dog closest to him," the spokesman said.
Boling said he had gained control of one of the dogs by the time the officer raised his gun, "Then I hear my wife yelling, 'Don't shoot my baby, please don't hurt my baby!"
From above the dog, the officer fired once, striking the 5-year-old mixed breed on the back. It dashed to the back yard where it bled to death within three minutes.
"You'd better check on your dog," she quoted the officer as responding.
But the policeman still had the gun raised and pointed toward her husband and surviving dog, she asserted.
"Why are you on my property I didn't call you," Boling recalls asking.

....Infidel!
(You forgot that part. :-) )
Yep. I read about it starting to happen a few years ago, and knew what I was looking at.
It's a bad, bad thing - and it goes WAY beyond dogs.
I volunteer at a local animal shelter. It’s amazing how many of the poor dogs are pitbull mixes. And most of them are extremely loving.
“I keep wondering how many more incidents of cretins with a badge shoot a family pet, before a pet owner finally feels threatened and unloads an 870 into the cop. Sooner or later, the day will come. Book it.”
It’s already happened - In retrial, man found not guilty of murder in shooting death of off-duty deputy

This may be a local issue, but it’s a nationwide problem, growing at beathtaking, and freedom taking speed..
The other issues you mentioned have nothing to do with the widespread corrupt LEO’s.
Further circumstantial evidence of our corrupt LEO’s can be found here:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2889033/posts
Both yesterday and today, within minutes of posting to you, without even searching for it, I came across evidence of the severe consequences the rest of us suffer from this corrupt gang called LEO’s operating under the color of law.
The first step to solve the problem is to move on past denial.
Who is in denial?
Never mind. I see you’re responding to #80, I think. I fully agree that things are out of control, even outside legal bounds. Their whole approach or philosophy needs to be overhauled. I’m the last one who needs further evidence or convincing. My only objection was someone expressing possible indifference should harm to come to an LEO. Can’t go there. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
Cops do what they are trained to do. Act locally to make a change.
Or, do you want the feds to handle it?
Thank you for conceding that they are trained to shoot dogs, a precursor to the murder of citizens.
Don’t thank me for anything.
Any dead dogs are your fault for being all talk and no action.
No, any dead dogs are the fault of those who shoot them, and those who attempt to justify the actions of the shooters.
Are you calling in the feds?
Someone should do up one of those charts for “Pit Bulls”.
Are you done trying to defend those who shoot house dogs?
Are you ready to condemn them yet?
“I doubt he really thought the dog was any of the bully breeds.
More likely, he used that as an excuse to cover for the enjoyment he gets from shooting dogs.”
I suspect there’s an element of truth to that statement.
Start out with all the colors of Labs, going through Goldens and other retrievers and pointers and including quite a few little lap dogs.
This crap is happening constantly.
