So, Barack Senior and Stanley Ann flew to Kenya to get the permission. Not only was permission denied, but permission was also denied to Stanley Ann for the flight back until she had her baby. British Airways was a straight-laced airline.
After giving birth to baby Obama, Stanley Ann flew from Kenya along the Polar route to Vancouver BC. From Vancouver, she took the ferry to Mercer Island, Washington with baby Zer0. In Seattle, she took classes at the University of Washington.
Meanwhile, in Hawaii, “Toots” Dunham cooked up the birth certificate, using her connections in the escrow department at the Bank of Hawaii. This certificate was necessary so that Stanley Ann could get state assistance from the State of Washington.

Behavior she would repeat meeting an Indonesian national, going to Indonesia, having Maya..clearly a different independant woman. And BOAC planes were available free or discounted for students at that time and she would return to her old stomping grounds of Mercer Island and attend the university in WA.

It has been pointed out that Airlines would not allow anyone with a recently born baby to fly because the pressure differential could break the baby's eardrums. I find it more believable that Stanley Ann was embarrassingly packed off to go live with her Uncle Ralph Dunham, or her Aunt Eleanor Berkibeile in North West Washington, and to remain their until she had the baby. If so, I should not be surprised at her taking advantage of the Canadian Free Health Care system which had recently been implemented just across the border.
She probably ended up having to move out when the Berkibeiles saw the baby was black. In 1961, that was a felony crime in 22 states.
