Fred, if you were named “Susan Fred Nerks” would you go by the name “Susan”, or would you go by the name “Fred”?
I really wish you would get off this name thing. In my opinion it is just silly and not worth the time which is spent discussing it. No girl would want to be called “Stanley.”
Individual speculation based on “what if” and “I wouldn’t do it” are worthless. Evidence is what is desired, and there is no evidence that SAD used the name Ann, Anna, or Anne, other than the one article you posted written right after the election which is just as worthless as the teachers’ “recollection” of the delivery doctor; which was quickly proven to be utterly false. I’m really starting to wonder about your motives for obstinately clinging to airy fairy speculation.
IMHO there are people who want parts of the myth to be true not just because they don’t want go out into the (to them) unknown, or admit they were wrong, but because parts of the myth support certain agendas. Such as “well, at least his mother/and/or/father were American” or “he didn’t know he was born in Kenya” or “he was born in Kenya but his [sic] mother and father weren’t married so he had US citizenship” and on and on.
For some, clinging to myths is more than psychological, it’s agenda driven. Am I pointing fingers or naming names? No, I do not Know All. If shoes fit, people can wear them, that’s all.
The article I quoted was from an interview with Stanley Ann's Aunt Virginia Goeldner. This is not a case of some "nobody" saying that so and so was the delivery doctor. This is a woman with first hand knowledge of the events in question, and a direct family member. (Stanley's Sister.) Many of the pictures we've seen regarding the Obama family appear to have come directly from her.
If there *IS* any problem with the article, it is the result of the reporter (Bill Lawson) quoting or reporting something incorrectly. (Such as Barry's mother having died, which he admitted was a mistake.)
Apart from that, a woman choosing to call herself "Ann" or "Anna" is a completely understandable preference over being called "Stanley", so this aspect of the article has the "ring of truth" about it.

My motives are to look at things with a rational eye and see what is most likely to be the truth. That a girl named "Stanley" would prefer to be called "Stanley" does not strike me as true.
