Looks like the Bishops didn’t read the fine print when they initially jumped all in favor of it.
They're not stupid people. In fact, they're shrewd. The charitable part of me thinks they knew they had to do this because the only way to kill this beast would be to defeat it with legal precedent -- otherwise it's always laying in wait for more cooperative times.
I partly do believe that, but I simply cannot trust the President of the USCCB. I suppose he'll prove me wrong, but it will be over my visceral objections if it happens.
