A penalty that involves permanent mutilation should be treated no differently from a death penalty, and applied no less sparingly.
I don't particularly trust the government to get things right ... even (especially) in the case of criminal trials.
Point well taken. The current state of the country isn’t exactly trustworthy. Guilty get off free and clear as with the New Black Panthers and people that should be left free are in the fight of their life as with Zimmerman.
