Obama reminded the crowd that Romney said “corporations are people,”

Obama is giving Romney a huge opening here. This is so easily flipped that only tone deaf Republicans could miss the opportunity, and I suppose we will. Romney needs to say:

... so, in response to Mr. Obama's latest rantings, are corporations people? My answer is simple. We as individuals have inalienable rights, given by God. We hold those rights as a matter of natural law, and they are reflected in the design of our constitution. Those rights are inherent. We do not surrender them when we come together in voluntary organizations.

So, are corporations people? Let me ask you this. More importantly, let me ask Mr. Obama this. Are churches people? Are civic organizations people? Are schools, nonprofit organizations, political groups, and other private associations people? Or does Mr. Obama think we surrender our God given rights when we gather together?

That's not a casual or careless question. This president is engaged in the most heinous assault on religious liberty in at least the last 150 years, and perhaps in American history. He clearly doesn't think that Christian churches are people. He's an advocate of comprehensive and onerous government controls on political speech. He would probably concede that freedom of speech gives you the right to say whatever you want in the privacy of your own living room, but the moment we come together as a group in the public square, he demands the power to dictate the terms, conditions, and amount of our speech. He clearly doesn't think that advocacy and political groups, including political parties, are people.

This president and the party he represents are militantly determined to micromanage the affairs of voluntary and civic organizations of all kinds; they seem to think that constitutional liberties are fine as long as we remain hidden in the catacombs, but the moment we step into the street, we are utterly creatures of government. That is the issue.

It needs to be wordsmithed, but you get the gist. This can be reversed and driven as a wedge at any number of overreaching lefist presumptions. The democrats are the slavery party. We are the liberty party, and we shouldn't be afraid to sound the trumpets.

You should send that to the Romney campaign. It hits the right tone for Romney to use. It frames the debate in a clear way, while also putting Obama’s lack of class on display. It explains the control the dems want over our speech. Please find a way to get that to Romney’s people.
