You already have it if you have Onstar. Even disconnected, as mine is, the information is collected. They just don’t share it with you. The phone can be turned on, too, not that they would have any reason to do so...Welcome to the world of Big Brother..

I haven’t installed it and all my cars are too old. I am doing this on purpose, I will never buy a new car again.

ahh good old onstar..

A week ago Friday my wife was involved in a collision (other drivers fault) with air bag deployment (everyone is ok). Her van has onstar but we to do not pay for it. However, in Minnesota, it’s a felony to witness a collision and not stop or report it.

The van called in to onstar because of the deployment. The call was not routed to local police. It was simply ignored.

when I got the van home I pushed the blue button. They where happy to try and sell me service but would not comment on the call the system should have placed at the time of the collision.

The short of it, since it’s completely useless with out subscription a trip to your local library to use Alldata will tell you where the onstar box is. Unplug the damn thing.
