Romney Up 6 Points In Florida, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Rubio Has Little Impact as VP
Quinnipiac University Polling Institute ^ | 05/23/2012

Posted on 05/23/2012 4:05:08 AM PDT by iowamark

Gov. Mitt Romney holds a 47 - 41 percent lead over President Barack Obama in Florida, where 63 percent of voters say the president's support of same-sex marriage will not affect their vote, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Another 25 - 11 percent of voters, including 23 - 9 percent among independent voters, say Obama's support of gay marriage makes them less likely to support his candidacy.

Adding Florida U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio to the GOP ticket would give the Republican Romney/Rubio team a 49 - 41 percent lead over President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Romney's lead in the horse race compares to a 44 - 43 percent tie in a May 3 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University and a 49 - 42 percent Obama lead March 28.

Florida registered voters say 52 - 44 percent that the president does not deserve a second term in the Oval Office and by 52 - 44 percent give him a thumbs-down on his job approval...

"The overall picture in Florida is positive for Romney, who is ahead 50 - 37 percent among men, while women are divided 44 - 45 percent. And the president is getting just 33 percent of white votes, compared to 85 percent of black votes and 42 percent of Hispanic votes."

With the bitter GOP primaries now behind him, Romney is winning Republicans 91 - 3 percent and independent voters 44 - 36 percent, while losing Democrats 87 - 4 percent.

In the Romney/Rubio race verses Obama/Biden, independent voters back the Republican ticket 46 - 37 percent.

This is especially significant as Quinnipiac polls tend to show Democrat bias.

Very true and because this poll is just "registered voters" instead of likely voters, romney will pick up another 4-7% when just likely voters are polled.

Since Rubio on the ticket increases the number from 47 to 49% that is a 5% increase not just 2 points and 5% is not insignificant.

And that is why Romney is really ahead by 10 points in FL at this point. By November Obama will be behind nationwide by 10 points and will lose FL, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and the Electoral College. Obama will crater like FaceBook

Not so sure about Rubio. Can anyone explain what Rubio’s position is on Immigration? Why is he pushing reform so hard now, when the economy is the issue.

Probably for the same reason Perry and Gingrich pushed the issue.

As much as I like Rubio, while he was born in the US, because his parents were not citizens at the time of his birth, HE IS NOT NATURAL BORN. Why this does not matter to conservatives is a big puzzle to me.

Also undecideds almost never break for the incumbent. Basically they know they don’t like Obama, they just aren’t sure about Romney yet.

In a survey of registered voters for an election involving an incumbent President, I wouldn't exactly say that at 49% Rubio "Has Little Impact". (Pretty much all the "undecideds" should break for a challenger -- Romney or a third party candidate. If you like the job Zero has been doing, you're in the 41%. If not, you're in the other 59%.)

The headline I'd write is: "Rubio Makes Romney a Shoo-In" to win Florida!

Because it's not true, that's why birthers have never won a single case, anywhere. There are only two kinds of citizens, naturalized or natural born. There is no third catagory recognized anywher under US law.

Why this does not matter to conservatives is a big puzzle to me.

Maybe because over 90% of the electorate are ignorant to the facts of what NBC really is?

Rubio is not going to take any wind out of the sails at this point because he is generating real interest but not enough people are paying attention to making the point right now. It will be swept under the rug again and the facts will be diluted through the media before the general electorate knows it ever happened.

Better that he keep it going to right before the announcement at the convention when most everyone interested will be watching and then letting the air out of the balloon. Then he will have their complete and undivided attention to actually learn something as to the Obama NBC situation.

Hopefully because we are going to really need FL. Obama and Biden have camped out in Ohio. They’re going for the Buckeye State with a vengeance. They’ve done everything but sign a 6 month’s lease on a hotel room. I’m thinking Obama will take Ohio, so, therefore, we need FL, VA, NC AND PA.

“Therefore, we need FL, VA, NC AND PA.”

There is a way to 270 without PA, and OH but Romney would need to split off Wi, then take Co, and Nv.
