Ann, as always, pulls no punches.
The church becoming aligned with the state? If so, the potential for the greatest of tyrannies lies ahead.

I’d say it about any church.
If you can’t follow their doctrines, don’t be associated with them.

The 1960's and forward "nuns" were pretty much all lesbians, or if they weren't, they were sure fooling a lot of people with their high-and-tight six-dollar haircuts, manly clothing and overall butch affectations and comportment.
Painting with a broad brush, no?

Christ charged THE CHURCH with caring for the sick, poor and elderly - IN CHARITY, meaning that the Church FREELY GIVES, beginning with the FREELY GIVEN tithes of the individual faithful, and then FREELY GIVEN by the Church itself to the poor, sick and elderly. hunh. why then is Cardinal Dolan so in favor of "universal healthcare"?

I agree with a great deal of what she says, but she’s wrong when she says the Church has abandoned healthcare and charity. Catholic hospitals are everywhere and provide a tremendous amount of care to the indigent as well as those who can pay. The problem (on this topic) is actually the opposite of what she says: Obamacare may compel the Church to give up its vast system of charitable medical care, leaving millions without medical care unless they join Obamacare. That is just what Obama ‘n’ them want.

I had these nuns as teachers from 8th grade through sophomore in HS. They still wore habits and as far as I remember were consistent with the Church although they were really scary.
