“You won’t be here long enough for me to waste my time explaining all that to you. Had you been here during the 2007-2010 period, you’d have seen all the ups-and-downs we went through and all the shenanigans the press, GOP-e and Vichy conservatives got up to.”
We all work with the light we have. Sarah is not a deity. Her efforts to help us get a conservative presidential candidate were obvious, sincere, and within the scope of the constraints on her activity. Neither you nor I know all those constraints, and I for one appreciate what she tried to do. Newt was, IMHO, our best hope for taking a real chainsaw to the budding socialist tyranny. All the others were half measures at best. No intellectual firepower. But no one could match Romney’s financial firepower, nor his ability to convert that firepower into lie-driven carpet bombing runs against his opponents. This is not something Palin or anyone else could do much about. Our only hope, from a human perspective, was us, and we let us down.
You see, I’ve been a candidate locally. I’ve tried my hand at getting people stirred up to do more than post and pout. We needed people to jump in with both feet. Candidates need money. But everybody is too broke to save the Republic. Candidates need people. But everyone is too busy to make the meetings. Maybe they’ll get around to it next time. Or maybe there wont be a next time. What is lacking is a sense of urgency that matches the dangerous reality in which we now find ourselves.
Just the other day I was talking with the cable guy, trying to see where hes coming in on the political situation. He didnt care one bit for politics, just wanted to live his life and be left alone. He was visibly irritated that I even mentioned the subject. He doesnt realize how his life will change if he doesnt get energized. He doesnt realize that getting involved now could literally save his own life later on.
Freedom is something we all have to fight for. Like Sarah said in Wisconsin, we have to do this together. That quote is on my ringtone. People at work hear it regularly, and they know who she is. More importantly, she knows who she is.
You say you are a Christian, and I am happy to take that at face value. Sarah is also a Christian, and one who has made it clear she seeks Gods wisdom for the things she does, in whatever realm. I am prepared to take that at face value too. I believe she has done what she believes God wanted her to do. She is not so arrogant as to think that our success really depended on her, and she has said as much. She knows this truth, that our success in deposing the Marxist depends entirely on the mercy and aid of God, and on our own willingness to carry our own weight, every one of us, in salvaging what remains of our great country.
“her fame and reputation would have launched her to the White House no sweat.”
I also think Palin would have rallied the conservative base and would have been a good president to get this country back on track from the leftists running us off a cliff.
I’m confused about one thing, though. I saw Newt as having the support of political conservatives, but Santorum having more support with religious, faith based conservatives.
I presumed that Palin would have supported Santorum, and perhaps her political clout may have helped him get the nomination instead of Romney.
If not Palin, at least Santorum or Newt would have been a conservative candidate compared to liberal Romney.
