Let me say very clearly what this lawsuit is not about: it is not about preventing women from having access to contraception, nor even about preventing the Government from providing such services. Many of our faculty, staff and students — both Catholic and non-Catholic — have made conscientious decisions to use contraceptives. As we assert the right to follow our conscience, we respect their right to follow theirs. And we believe that, if the Government wishes to provide such services, means are available that do not compel religious organizations to serve as its agents. Fr. John Jenkins -- Notre Dame

Is that an example of "having your cake and eating it too"? Why should somebody else pay for Notre Dame's abortions and prophylactics? All the while they sit there smugly and claim to be so "Catholic". As a Catholic, this makes me mad. Is it moral, or not? If not, why should Notre Dame encourage ANYBODY to use these services?

Guess they should have demanded everyone read it so they would know what was in it as opposed to passing it to know what’s in it.

BTW, it doesn’t say which “institutions” for the most part...Notre Dame is noted, but I am wondering if it is the hospitals and other Catholic run healthcare facilities, or are the Arch-Diocese’s them selves filing suit???

I’m not a Catholic, but the Cardinal down here in the Houston-Galveston Diocese is a right stand up guy as far as I am concerned...

He calls me his favorite political heathen...In a joking way...He is very conservative, politically speaking...

I told him when the Obamacare thing was in high gear what he thought about the issue...And he is not for it in any way, shape or form...

I thought he should consider closing the facilities (in his Diocese) till cooler heads prevail...

I recall he didn’t oppose the idea, but he did say it might hurt more people than help...I agreed, but it certainly puts his church between a rock and a hard place...

Makes me a little angry just remembering how hard this is all going to be when the rubber hits the road...

God is watching us though...
