Completely different index. Not as easy to use. One must register,etc. Old index was quick, efficient. I would get 40-80 "hits." Ancestry index just gave me 2K hits for same person.

The Rootsweb worked much better/quicker. Not sure why, other than "misuse" it was taken down. Nothing to stop users from "misusing" the Ancestry.com index, assuming they can find the person they are looking for...

Haven’t been on Rootsweb in a long time But I was amazed that the SS# was listed on the index on Ancestry. Dumb thing IMO.
