I went to college without graduating from high shcool. I loved reading and learning but hated high school. I took an early GED, did well on the SAT, and started college at 17.

A GED is the equivalent of a H.S. diploma.

Apparently, the students referred to in the article have neither a H.S. diploma nor a GED.

Back in my day GEDs were looked down on as less than a HS diploma. Now I would say it’s better, since it shows you at least learned something and wern’t just passed along.
