Marco Rubio, during an address at the annual South Carolina Republican Partys Silver Elephant Banquet Saturday night, called President Barack Obama the most divisive figure in modern American history. (Via CNN):
For all the policy disagreements that we have with our president, it is hard to understate how much he inspired people across this country four years ago, Rubio said at a fundraising dinner for South Carolina Republicans.
The man who currently occupies the White House, he explained, is a very different person.
We have not seen such a divisive figure in modern American history as we have over the last three and a half years, Rubio said.
They get frustrated, he said. They cant win on their record. And so they have chosen to go down a different road, one that I think is destructive, counterproductive and very unfortunate.
He accused the Obama campaign of attempting to pit Americans against each other by engaging in class warfare and unfairly attacking Republicans on gender issues.
Never have we seen such an effort to divide the American people in an effort to win an election as we have today, Rubio said.
Well, the Florida Senator does have a point. After all, last week the Obama campaign released a deeply divisive and unfair attack ad against Bain Capital portraying Mitt Romney as a capitalistic vampire who laid off thousands of workers at a steel plant in Missouri to maximize profits. Indeed, its a nice narrative that resonates well with the left, but as fact checkers recently pointed out, its simply not true. The outsourcing at the company in question GST Steel took place in 2000 and 2001 about a year after Romney left his post at Bain Capital. But hey, facts are inconvenient things when youre running for reelection at a time when the unemployment rate is above 8 percent and millions of Americans cant find work. Divide and Conquer!
By contrast, Mitt Romney is running a much more positive campaign. In his first general election television advertisement, for example, he outlined three policies hed pursue the first day of his presidency to make the United States a more free and prosperous nation.
Exit question: What solutions has President Obama proposed to lower unemployment, balance the budget, and reduce the national deficit? Oh, right.
Rubia is failing. Hugh.
Palin would be a far better VP.
Just saying.
Why should he go back to Cuba? He was born in Miami and Miami is in Florida which is the 22nd State. Also his parents were not illegals. So how dare you tell him to go back to Cuba
You are not a reader.
I told him to take a hike back to Cuba...(to his parents’ country.)
You need to be taught some serious reading skills. This has been discussed many times.
You have a terrible memory problem.
Give me a break......were concerned that as a youngster his parents took him to the Mormon church? No wonder no decent person wants to run for office. I’m sure there is something in your background that could be spun also
“Im sure there is something in your background that could be spun also”
No there is not. How about yours?
The hatred of some in here against Marco Rubio is something elseThat tends to happen to people you learn are liars or phonies. He can take his fantasy "Dream Act" and shove it as far as I'm concerned.
If he's a VP pick it's just one more reason to stay home in Nov.
Marco is obviously running for (vice) President.
I’m okay with that.
The Dream Act is one big step in the door to amnesty. Rubio knows it and WE know it.
The shills are out in force.
