“That must be a ‘thing’, now. I see it everywhere.”
And my pet peeve is people saying things like “me and my mom” insead of “my mom and I”; or “me and her” instead of “she and I”. Like nails on a chalkboard! And it’s everywhere — news anchors, ads by major corporations, TV shows. arrrrgh!!
Well, things like that can be explained away by the language changing over time. An English professor I did some work for a while back told me that some of the things that bugged me were an evolution of the language, such as ending sentences with prepositions. EVERYONE does that, now. I cringe every time I hear "Where you at?".
It doesn't matter, though. In another hundred years, American English will be a mishmash of English and Spanish. "Spanglish", I think they call it.
