Postal employee on workers’ comp caught running Boston Marathon

A U.S. District Court in Florida convicted a former Florida postal worker of health care fraud after she was caught participating in more than 80 long-distance races, including the Boston Marathon, all while taking workers' compensation for a back injury.

...

However, photos and videos emerged showing Myers participating in the races, including a triathlon. And in what would ordinarily be considered good news, her race times actually improved after she made her initial injury claim.

Last October, a marathon "winner" in London was disqualified after it was revealed he had cheated by taking a public bus for a significant portion of the race he was supposedly running. Amazingly, it was announced this week that the disqualified winner, Rob Sloan, recently took a job working as a bus engineer.

Quick, sue Boston for a marathon injury so you don't create a gap in your free money!

My sister's back yard neighbor is a phony-disabled postal worker who does the most amazing types of labor in his back yard...some of it filmed by my sister and shown to a Post Office investigator. After seeing it the film the investigator basically said..."not nearly enough to change things".

Just another example of our victim culture.

I suggest she next try to place or even win, in the next running of the Rosie Ruiz race.

I'd think someone would need to know what his disability is first.

Did he perhaps come down with Anthrax? One of the disabled guys isn't out of a hospital bed yet ~ some others are. Then there are the dead guys.

I suppose you could still work around the backyard or something, but that was pretty serious stuff.

I know several people who were exposed who ended up losing their teeth to the Cipro.

I understand that not everyone with a serious medical condition *appears* ill or is unable to do physical labor. But in the case of the guy mentioned in this piece and,BTW,my sister's neighbor the problem is back pain.Someone so disabled by a back condition that they can't work shouldn't be able to run 26 miles or do the kinds of things my sister has seen her neighbor do.

After the Boston Marathon they were likely able to document that she’d participated in the others; they didn’t wait and watch thru them.
