The Cherokee originated in Georgia, that would explain crab recipes if there really are any Cherokee crab recipes.
Half of my mother's people were Chocktaws from Oklahoma, but the tribes originated in Florida and Louisiana. We have recipes for buffalo, snake, prairie dog, squirrel and filegree (weeds), but we don't have a SINGLE crab recipe in all the recipes that were handed down over the generations, much less, two.
