Senator John McCain, who refused to make President Obamas association with the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright an issue during his 2008 presidential campaign, repudiated a proposal by Republican strategists to do exactly what John McCain would not let us do open an incendiary, racially tinged attack on the president.
Mr. McCain also shrugged off the slights against him in a proposal for the political ad campaign, which was brought to light by The New York Times.
I dont know whether to be offended or not, Mr. McCain said with a smile. It is what it is. Look, my life has moved on.
He added that such third-party attacks are a way for political operatives to continue to make money.
The authors of the ad campaign, timed to rock the Democratic National Convention in September, asserted that if the nation had seen that ad, theyd never have elected Barack Obama.
The proposed ad opened with a series of jabs against Mr. McCain, whose campaign was portrayed as punchless and befuddled. Written by former McCain campaign advisers, the ads opening paragraphs refer to him as a crusty old politician who often seemed confused, burdened with a campaign just as confused.
Speaking to reporters at the Capitol, Mr. McCain appeared untroubled Thursday.

Okay, what’s “racially tinged” about it? If Wright were as white as McCain, would that make it okay to say he’s an anti-American racist commie? If that’s all it takes, would it be okay to point out that Obama’s other bomb-throwing pal is lily-white Bill Ayres?
Juan should have just conceded pre-emptively in 2008 and let Sarah run for the top slot. She wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is.
McCain, you Obama-eating dirtbag.
McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt was out congratulating Myth for playing nice. Always great to hear from incompetent losers.
Fortunately that the PACs can do whatever they want, and Myth can say he asked them not to, so it could be a win-win.
Sigh...
THANKS ARIZONA!!!!

Well, you certainly know how to spend in a campaign, John..
McCain spent $21,600,000.00 to get re-elected.
J.D. Hayworth spent $1,600,000.00 to try to unseat you.
“If Wright were as white as McCain...”
From the looks of Wright, he is Whiter (that be Caucasian) than McCain.
This is why he lost. He does not have the guts to say what should be said. Candidates must fight back if they are going to win. The Dems. know how to fight dirty. Being a nice guy will not win this election.
Those communists really got to you, didn’t they John?
Yet, he had no problem savaging J.D. Hayworth in the primary.
"McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt was out congratulating Myth for playing nice. Always great to hear from incompetent losers."
He, of course, will be nowhere to be found when the dirt flies against Romney..
I don’t know who stated it first on FR but they were right. We’re going to get McCainja vu with Romney. After all, he thinks Obama’s a nice guy, just naive.
I don’t like McCain any more than I do Obama. Does that make me racist?
Yeah, John. But our lives out here in flyover country haven't. We are stuck with this little Kenyan POS who you refused to properly oppose when you had the chance and now he is taking this country hell bound into the toilet.
I know, I know, John. It's that Senate collegiality "reach across the aisle" bullshit again. It makes you guys feel soooo good - but it is royally screwing the rest of us.
Do your country a favor now and retire, John. Please. And shut up while you are at it.
McCain always reserves his contempt for Conservatives.

I’ve got an idea. Let’s go ask the looser how to repeat his success in the upcoming election!
When Obama wins again, McCain can take his naivety and his “Rodney King-can’t we all get along” mentality and join Romney as they blame the Tea Party and everyone but themselves and their rotten establishment GOP for losing. Yeah. and also Rove.
There’s no race involved. Reverend Wright’s statements are what they are. The Times doesn’t have the privilege of turning anything and everything into a racial matter. Liberals make me sick.
If we’re not going to talk about what Obama is - an extreme leftist - what’s the point of having a campaign? The Republicans will play nicey while the Democrats and their surrogates screw them at every turn.
