You folks are missing the real killer, here:

And how, pray tell, will the counties pay for these teacher pension costs?

Why, they'll have to increase their income taxes.

Yes, folks: Maryland counties have an income tax, of approximately 3% of one's state income tax. Watch that rate go up over the next couple of years ... on everybody.

How convenient ... State government can claim it "only" raised taxes on "the rich" while brushing the county tax increases under the rug.

DemocRats are liars.

Correction: it's 3% of income, not 3% of state income taxes. I'm in Montgomery County and our county tax rate is almost identical to the state rate.

The state has a cap of 3% for county income taxes, but I’m sure that they won’t mind raising that one in the near future.
