Virgil Goode said this afternoon that hes won ballot access in 17 states as the Constitution Partys presidential nominee but Virginia isnt yet one of them.
The former Virginia senator and 5th District congressman said hes aiming to be on the ballot in 40 states on Election Day, and more if possible. Four years ago, the Constitution Party appeared on 37 ballots in the presidential race.
Goode said hes already won ballot access in Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Utah, Wyoming and other states. In Virginia, he needs to secure at least 10,000 signatures from qualified voters, including at least 400 from each of the states 11 congressional districts. The deadline is noon on August 24.
He said hes already working on that and will focus mostly on the 5th, 6th and 9th Districts in western and southern Virginia to obtain the bulk of those signatures.
Goode spoke for about 20 minutes to about 75 members of the Salem Rotary Club, fielding questions and outlining three key differences between him, incumbent President Barack Obama and likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
Goode said he favors deeper cuts to the federal budget to avoid running a deficit. He said Obamas plan runs a $1.3 trillion deficit while the House Republican plan runs a $600 billion deficit while cutting Medicare.
This is old Franklin County horse sense, but youre not going to borrow your way to prosperity, Goode said.
He said hed preserve the social security and Medicare programs while making deep cuts to social programs and defense.
Goode said that Democrats and Republicans have become compromised by taking large amounts from heavy hitter PACs. SO he pledged to take no more than $200 from any individual donor and said hed eschew money from political action committees.
Goode said if he wins election in November, youll know that the grassroots is back in charge.
And at a time when both major parties are softening their stance on immigration, Goode said hed eliminate illegal immigration and largely shut down legal immigration as well, saying theres no need for the country to issue 1.2 million green cards annually when unemployment is running between 8 percent and 9 percent.
The best thing to help the working man in this country is to put a moratorium on so many green cards, Goode said.
Id rather vote for Bob Hope, the Marx Brothers, or Jerry Lewis. I dont think theyre as funny as Professor Hospers and the Libertarian Party. If, at a time like this, John Hospers takes ten votes away from Nixon (which I doubt hell do), it would be a moral crime. I dont care about Nixon, and I care even less about Hospers. But this is no time to engage in publicity seeking, which all these crank political parties are doing. If you want to spread your ideas, do it through education. But dont run for Presidentor even dogcatcher- Ayn Rand
Yep, and he voted to impeach Clinton. That's why the Rats run him out of the party. He's got my vote!
Screw Romney and the GOP-E he rode in on!
Of course, we dont know if his conversion is real.
Well, if Romney had merely claimed to be conservative there would be some doubt. Instead he’s severely conservative. That statement alone tells it all.
Thanks for the thread! I’ll have to make sure I get my signature on that Virginia petition. And you MittWitts posting on this thread can kiss my ass!
A vote for currently liberal Romney is a vote for a current liberal. This is fun.
He would win the WH.
Now where would you get an idea like that ~ do you hang around with Mittbots perhaps?
That would explain a lot of your stranger beliefs.
I think you are long overdue for a good self-examination ~ maybe even an INTERROGATION.
And then he caucused with the Democrats, helping them retain a House majority.
On the sixth day of the GOP primary, after the processions, the speeches, the shouting, the singing, the banners, the posters, the films, the waxworks, the rolling of drums and squealing of trumpets, the tramp of marching feet, the grinding of the caterpillars of tanks, the roar of massed planes, the booming of guns -- after six days of this, when the great orgasm was quivering to its climax and the general hatred of Romney had boiled up into such delirium that if the crowd could have got their hands on the 2,000 Romneyite war-criminals who were to be publicly hanged on the last day of the proceedings, they would unquestionably have torn them to pieces -- at just this moment it had been announced that Freeperania was not after all at war with Romney. Freeperania was at war with Principled Conservatives. Romney was an ally.
There was, of course, no admission that any change had taken place. Merely it became known, with extreme suddenness and everywhere at once, that Principled Conservatives and not Romney was the enemy. Winston was taking part in a demonstration in one of the central London squares at the moment when it happened. It was night, and the white faces and the scarlet banners were luridly floodlit. The square was packed with several thousand people, including a block of about a thousand schoolchildren in the uniform of the GOP-E. On a scarlet-draped platform an orator of the RNC, a small lean man with disproportionately long arms and a large bald skull over which a few lank locks straggled, was haranguing the crowd. A little Rumpelstiltskin figure, contorted with hatred, he gripped the neck of the microphone with one hand while the other, enormous at the end of a bony arm, clawed the air menacingly above his head. His voice, made metallic by the amplifiers, boomed forth an endless catalogue of atrocities, massacres, deportations, lootings, rapings, torture of prisoners, bombing of civilians, lying propaganda, unjust aggressions, broken treaties. It was almost impossible to listen to him without being first convinced and then maddened. At every few moments the fury of the crowd boiled over and the voice of the speaker was drowned by a wild beast-like roaring that rose uncontrollably from thousands of throats. The most savage yells of all came from the schoolchildren. The speech had been proceeding for perhaps twenty minutes when a messenger hurried on to the platform and a scrap of paper was slipped into the speaker's hand. He unrolled and read it without pausing in his speech. Nothing altered in his voice or manner, or in the content of what he was saying, but suddenly the names were different. Without words said, a wave of understanding rippled through the crowd. Freeperania was at war with Principled Conservatives! The next moment there was a tremendous commotion. The banners and posters with which the square was decorated were all wrong! Quite half of them had the wrong faces on them. It was sabotage! The agents of Virgil Goode had been at work! There was a riotous interlude while posters were ripped from the walls, banners torn to shreds and trampled underfoot. The GOP-E performed prodigies of activity in clambering over the rooftops and cutting the streamers that fluttered from the chimneys. But within two or three minutes it was all over. The orator, still gripping the neck of the microphone, his shoulders hunched forward, his free hand clawing at the air, had gone straight on with his speech. One minute more, and the feral roars of rage were again bursting from the crowd. The Hate continued exactly as before, except that the target had been changed.
Now, if we could only find someone to the left of Baraka Hussein Obama to run in the socialist or communist party.... oh, never mind, that is a hopeless search.
With regard to the comments about Mr. Goode having once been a Democrat, it is my understanding that he was a Democrat because of his family tradition of being a member of that party. He ideologically left that party a long time ago and was well-known in Virginia circles as being a conservative politician.
You sound like a f...king NAZI. You don’t know me from Adam and you post this drivel...just because we have different beliefs...
I truly hope that was an attempt at sarcasm ‘cause otherwise you need help...I guess being in the postal service for so long could do that to one...Going Postal isn’t in the lexicon for no reason.
We all know about tradition. I come from a long line of Repubs; this part of NJ has always been Repub.
But as middle-aged conservative Americans “grew up” in the past few years, we’ve had a bucket of cold water called truth thrown in our face.
Many Repubs came to find out that they’ve been lied to for a number of years, as the Repub party abandoned it’s principles. My parent’s generation is either a) furious at the changes in this nation or b) a bit too old to understand or care what’s going on. I never held any illusions that money and big business were not heavily influential in both parties; but I think I never really realized how incompetent big business was and how anti-American the elites of this nation are. And I never dreamed America would fall into the sin that it has, even though if I took two seconds to think about it, the facts were in front of my eyes 25 years ago.
Many Dems have found out that the Dem party has been subverted by the communist/new left forces. It’s gone far beyond simple corruption and crime, it’s come down to anti-American political forces - and the Repub establishment does not have the spine to say it publicly for fear of being labeled McCarthyites.
They have poked a sleeping bear, the American people.
So, IMHO, new party it is. And it’s members will be from the old parties and Independents. This time will be different for me personally; if it’s not Christian, I’m not in.
My family was here before this was America. I’m not leaving or giving it up. This is my country and I am an American. I want America to clean house.
So? Even when Goode had a D behind his name, he was more conservative than Mitt Romney has ever been.
You do know that most people on this forum (recently added RomneyBots excluded) have been following politics for a long time. I doubt few if any are unaware of Goode's former political party. I've known of Virgil Goode since he was a state senator. Despite being a Democrat, my wife's Jesse Helms-worshiping grandparents, had nothing but nice things to say about Virgil Goode, who was their state senator, then U.S. Congressman. He is the only Democrat who escaped their disdain.
It needn't be physical. The best interrogators just talk about "things" and you pour out your heart.
But referring to me as any kind of "F word" NAZI might well give me the sort of leverage I need to find out just why you give off the smell of fear when it comes to owing money.
I was making a point...I don’t care that he was or wasn’t a democrat. One of my senators was a democrat. One of the talking points here is that Romney was a democrat. Obviously the point I was making was over the head of all the GoodeBOTS as you say.
He’s unelectable...that’s my point. Romney is electable and a damn better choice than Obama. The rest is noise...
Virgil is not seeking the Republican nomination to run for President. He’s doing what Romney and the other 13 RINOs who ran in the Republican primaries should have done ~ going out on his own.

So was Reagan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRUbwnkEPqc&feature=related
LOL...since I don’t have an “postal deficiencies” exceeding $0.45 (the cost of my next stamp...unless I really get excited and jump up to two ounces for $0.65) I guess I shouldn’t be too worried.
Work your leverage tough guy...
