Don’t worry about Iran, Israel will take care of it, former Spanish prime minister Jose Maria Aznar quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin as telling him years ago.
Aznar, speaking Wednesday at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs on a meeting he had with the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in 2002, said Putin’s comments came after he entreated him not to sell S300 anti-aircraft missiles to Iran.

Aznar said that Khamenei made clear during their conversation that “it was necessary to eliminate the threat Israel posed."
This conversation is over a decade old. It doesn't state anything we didn't already know or believe, but why wait so long to disclose it?
Putin, inadvertently to a nearby microphone: "And, as long as that is the case, might as well sell everything including the militarized sink to Iran, and make a few rubles before Iran goes down."

True....they sold a lot of hardware to Israel’s arab neighbors. Look how that worked out.
Maybe they sold them the bad hardware.
I think the ass-kicking Hussein received in 1991 demonstrated to the Russians once and for all they were outclassed by us conventionally.

Funny thing is....they generally got what was current, along with training. They used Soviet arms and doctorine, but always got beaten. Naturally, it was always blamed on substandard performance of the arab personnel, not the equipment or tactics.

C’mon. Ever heard “monkey model” term? It is coming after reports by Soviet technicians and military advisors learning the results of Arab-Israely Wars. These same people learnt Iran-Iraq War as well.
The main idea is about people who can’t read and write and barely able to count are unable to utilize tank sights from post-ww2 era.
At the same time this Soviet gear served pretty well to Iraqis against US gear Iran had and even better to Indians agaist Pakis.
