In short, President Obama supporting same-sex marriages means his campaign may have to write off most of the US Southeast and US Midwest, and now even the battleground states may turn against him.

Obama forgets that outside of the US Northeast and the major metro areas of California, Oregon and Washington states, support for same-sex marriages is marginally positive at best to downright hostile to the idea. And that's on top of the continuing issues with the struggling economy.

He shouldn’t have ignored the fact that where it was put to the ballot (including the northeast and CA), it failed.
