I buy a new filter every year and have for the last 6 years.

I once took water from an alligator pond. Poor locals had a fit seeing me fill my Lifesaver.

Cuidado!
Cuidado!
Cuidado!

Agua mas mal.

I laughed and had to explain to them what I was doing and why.

They didn’t get it. So I drank several cups. They ended up just basically shaking their heads.

Went back the next day and explained it to them again. Since I was alive the story made more sense.

But, basically, you can drop these things in Katrina or Haiti type conditions and you will get pure water out of them. Not filtered, which is fine on a hike but, in Katrina conditions the water if full of chemicals, effluent and other nasty stuff.

I love this thing for it’s portability and it will deliver water for four in good time.

So another trick up my sleeve for backup is I have these camp showers by Coleman. They hold 5 gallons of water. Now, the envision their product as something you expose to the sun and have a warm shower at the end of the day.

My vision is they hold 5 gallons and lie flat so they can go into a backpack for hauling back to my home or bugout site.

I can also drive to a water source, pull out 10 of these things, fill em and put them in my trunk with plenty of space left over for anything else. my thought is to place to in on the floor of the passenger seat, two on the floor behind the passenger and driver seat and the other in the trunk to balance out my car.

I mean, we are talking 400 pounds it needs to be distributed to balance out the car for driving.
