I used to visit in laws in florida. Once, I opened the front and then, bu habit, the back door, too. They asked what the story was. They had screens on the doors, but had just no idea about cross-ventilation. THey were amazed at how effective just opening those two doors was in cooling off the house. It was not summer, of course.
I guess they’d never even HAD the windows open. Bunch of pilots, they were, too.
Hardware depots have standard sized screens for aluminum outside doors (those little second doors on the outside of your front and back doors). And if you don’t have those, they’re relatively easy to get and install.
That’s all we’d have here in the absence of AC.
I was thinking that here in the south some extra screen wire could be a good barter item. Be sure to include some No-See-Um Wire in your stash to. (Especially along the coast)
