Isn’t Romney kind of considered a “native son” in Michigan because of his Dad? I think he is expected to do a lot better than McCain. If Romney wins Michigan or even gets within a few points of winning, OH should be in the bag for him and PA may even be possible (but doubt it).
You would have expected Romney to do far better in the primary than a tie after beating McCain in 08 by 10%
Romney is somewhat of a native son, but the connection isn’t strong. I do recall that in 2004, George W. Bush nearly won Michigan, losing by only 3% of the vote. It’s difficult, but not impossible.
It's widely known that the once-great state of Michigan has the largest muslim population in the US, and I suspect that THEY think that he's one of them.
Also, probably a lot of out-migration (except for the Obama-voting welfare rats).
.
Romney hasn’t lived in MI for almost fifty years. His father hasn’t been relative there for over forty years. He is from Michigan the way Reagan was from IL. After High School he left and never went back.
What this poll shows is that Romney is not well known and Obama is very well known. If Romney is scene as the least bit of a viable alternative to Obama 90% of the undecided will either vote fro Romney, or not vote at all.
You know your wife. If you where only 45% certain that you where going to be marrried to her in November, what is the likelyhood that you would still be matrried to her.
Obama is in deap trouble. He is way below 50% in MANY important states.
