With a bent rod, probably the crankshaft is also bent and maybe the main bearings are also shot.
Check and see if there is a *short block* available for the engine.
Otherwise new engine time, if the rest of the mower is OK.
I have some experience with such, my new *Snapper Rider* is 24 years old and my backup is 32 years old.
