(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Friday backed away from his support of adoptions by same-sex couples, saying that he simply "acknowledges" the legality of such adoptions in many states.
A day earlier, Romney, in an interview with Fox News' Neil Cavuto, had indicated that while he does not support same-sex marriage, he considers the adoption of children by same-sex couples a "right."
He said on Thursday: "And if two people of the same gender want to live together, want to have a loving relationship, or even to adopt a child -- in my state individuals of the same sex were able to adopt children. In my view, that's something that people have a right to do. But to call that marriage is something that in my view is a departure from the real meaning of that word."
But then on Friday, he was asked, in an interview with CBS' WBTV in Charlotte, N.C., how his opposition to same-sex marriage "squared" with his support for gay adoptions. Romney told anchor Paul Cameron, "Well actually I think all states but one allow gay adoption, so that's a position which has been decided by most of the state legislators, including the one in my state some time ago. So I simply acknowledge the fact that gay adoption is legal in all states but one."

We can agree to disagree-—yes. I understand that a lot of folks will vote for Romney. Everybody has a personal choice to make. But it bugs me no end when I see people trying to whitewash Romney, and make him out to be something he isn’t.

Too bad, you missed one of the best speeches I have ever heard him give. Heartfelt. You could see his passion, a product no doubt of his religious upbringing and missionary background. You can see those traits on video, when he talks about the close family friend, and what made his family dedicated to pro-abortion in 1963, and why he would never interfere with a woman's right to that choice.

You know, with these pathetic daily flip-flops by Mittens, I'm almost beginning to admire 0bama’s single-minded dedication to communist subversion.

It's really sad when some of Romney's key supporters are getting attacked for being militantly anti-homosexual when Romney's own record is more liberal than most Republicans on that issue.
I sure wish VanderSloot had found a better candidate to support in the primary, but who knows? Maybe Romney's Mormon friends who really **ARE** conservative are just as sick and tired of Romney's flip-flopping as we are, and have decided to rein him in a bit.

Evidently they are classified in some cases as "adoptive fathers":
"An adoptive father who's been accused of raping three boys in his care was indicted along with another man Friday on rape charges." (

Just watched Romneys speech at Liberty University. No matter how you feel about him, he did a fantastic job. Hit it out of the park.
Who’s his speach writer?
Levin? Hannity? Limbaugh?

There is no question that Romney’s speech at the convention will have a lot of red meat for conservatives.....I’ve known that all along....it isn’t going to fool me.

Well, not that effectively. I didn't realize how much of an idiot he is until his Michigan trees speech where he felt the need to explain that the ocean is salt water and the great lakes are freshwater (without sharks). He's got all the brains and half the charm of Joe Biden.

...on the other hand, there is the Supreme Court... Could very well be three new judges in the next term. Do you really want Obama to still be in there nominating feminazis, muslims and marxists? As much as I loathe Romney, I have to remind myself that the Supreme Court is even more important, and that Romney if elected can and will be taken to task by conservatives to make sure he nominates conservative judges. Bush’s Miers moment would pale in comparison if Romney dared do anything to the contrary.

Men who molest boys are homosexual pedophiles. If they weren’t homosexuals, they’d molest girls. All of them should be executed, btw.
And since 1/3 of all (reported) child molestation is same sex, that gives you a clue.
