Call it the Sarah Palin bounce: Hours after the 2008 vice presidential nominee endorsed Ted Cruz, a Republican candidate for U.S. senator from Texas, on Thursday morning, the staff at Cruz's headquarters in Austin reported a swift and positive reaction.
Nick Dyer, the Central Texas/Youth Director for Cruz tweeted:
Campaign manager John Drogin confirmed by email to Yahoo News that Palin's endorsement "has added HUGE buzz to our campaign."
"Phones are ringing, online contributions are pouring in, and supporters are more excited than ever on our social networks," Drogin wrote, adding that he's seen a "flood" of donations but has yet to tally them.
Select reaction from Cruz' Facebook page Thursday included:
"Fantastic endorsement. Congratulations. I support Sarah Palin, and after a lot of research I can honestly say you're the man for this job," wrote Facebook user Charles Netterville. "Thank you for your willingness to help take on the establishment (Both sides) and return this great nation to its former glory."
"Good choice Sarah! Sarah is a true Conservative and so is Ted! We need Ted representing Texas in DC!" wrote Barbara Rains Schroeder Hill.

I am 100% for Cruz!
“Call it the Sarah Palin bounce...”
Opposite of a dead cat bounce!
Well then, I’m 20 % for Cruz—LOL!
And Mike Huckabee endorsed Cruz’s rival, e-GOP David “Bailey Hutchison” Dewhurst. Thppppppppppt to Huckabee on this one.
Another Cruz endorser is Sen. DeMint.
That was supposed to be 200%—
For conservative Texans to prefer Ted Cruz and deplore the thought of establishment thinking Dewhurst as US senator, requires no one’s endorsement! It is what it is, in this case—a wash.
The risk may be diminishing, but in conservative states, Sarah’s endorsement isn’t necessary, but simply and probably appreciated, and in the liberal states, it may energize the Marxist base to some extent.
Still, a wash, but serves as a method to keep her name out there, for what it’s worth.
Palin’s endorsement may mean nothing to YOU, but to millions of conservative tea partiers she practically walks on water. And Cruz obviously liked the endorsement since he put it front and center on his facebook page.
I’m voting for Cruz regardless, but I wont shed tears if Dewhurst wins.
Thanks Bigtigermike.
Agreed.
I was speaking to whether a Palin endorsement translates into actual votes among the choir. Conservatives are voting for Cruz already. Can she swing votes among the Dewhurst crowd of moderates and disenchanted liberals? Probably not a chance.
As for Cruz who “liked the endorsement”, I SAID that already, that it was probably appreciated. How useful it is, is one thing but appreciated, of course it’s appreciated. Particularly by a conservative candidate.
I will shed tears. :)
Get used to this term: President Palin.
I was already behind Cruz as well, but I will CRY if Dewhurst wins. He is as “conservative” as Kay Bailout Hutchinson!
Cruz or Leppert would be the only choices in my mind; anyone else would be a LOSS for conservatives!
You’re kidding? Well, good for you and good for Sarah!
I apologize, as I don’t happen to know a single Tea Party conservative yet, who doesn’t know the difference between Cruz and Dewhurst, certainly by now, but maybe you’re from Austin. (kidding)
You know, as an avid reader I picked up on the dirt ball tactics of Dewhurst against Cruz, saying Cruz supported China against the US. Ridiculous. There are 1200 lawyers associated with that law firm, of which some, a few, were employed to represent China applying for something or another. TED CRUZ was not one of them.
I despise “guilt by innocent association”.
Up until today I wasn't sure whom I would vote for. I was actually kind of leaning toward Craig James as a reward for his earlier endorsement of Santorum.
But now that the Mama Grizzly has spoken I will definitely be voting for Cruz!!!
In fairness, I don’t know enough about Craig James to really say he would be a loss for conservatives.
I have voted for him already. Hope he beats rino Dewhurst.
He's far worse than that!
He's the kind of man who will look you in the eye and swear that he is going to do something and then turn around and do the exact opposite! He will NEVER get another vote from anyone in my household.
