In the 70s and 80s I was so impressed with some of the long conversations that I had with men who had escaped the Eastern block, some were more educated and thoughtful than others, but they all were a fountain of knowledge of their own little teeny corner of life in a society where all of your information is controlled.
They had such a passion about what the authorities did not want them to think and to know, that I was always invigorated and rejuvenated in my patriotism after listening to their intensity and their heart felt relief that they had truly escaped to where their hearts and minds were free.
It is hard to take things for granted when you meet people that have seen the other side and know what is at stake in man’s struggle.
I’m always happy when I come across something that makes me speechless..........Amen!
The kid wasn’t converted to anything, but his eyes were opened a little bit regarding rational thinking. At least that’s a start, but remember, he is a product of our educational system where rationality, logic, and the truth are not necessary to be learned in order to pass.
Fascinating conversation, but at the same time so painful to watch the level of ignorance and sheer stupidity of that American child. You could kind of guess how poorly this child was going to do with the conversation when he didn’t even know what kind of government the US has.
Neat video. Thanks for posting. He was a one of the most pleasant, least confrontational lefties I’ve seen in a while. I don’t know that he was deprogrammed, but maybe he learned a little something and will continue to explore. I wish the guy from the USSR had given him a business card or something so if he wanted to he could talk some more. Maybe too risky though that it would fall into a mean occupier’s hands. Wow to the video from October 2011 with the same guy. That lady was praising North Korea! Holy cow, we’ve got some messed up people in this country. And she was an oldie. Then the old guy with the horrible neck came over too. Scary stuff. They should go live in North Korea if they think it is so wonderful.

We desparately need people from the former Soviet Union to form activist education groups for younger Americans. They are sooooo brainwashed by the boomer neo-left, it is not funny. The activists should go to public schools and form American freedom clubs where they can learn about and discuss the idealism of socialism versus the reality of actually living under socialism.
It’s not fair to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man. That was hilarious.
