This was a comment from the Yahoo site:

Obama is so unpopular in Indiana that the democrats have no chance to win anything here. The writers of this article are delusional. I live in IN and the majority of people here are disillusioned with liberalism after the democrats had the supermajority during obama's first two years.

Dick Lugar's Indiana Loss Is a Win for Democrats

That is such an absurd statement, I had to click on it to read the article, if only for a few good laughs out loud.

If I ever get a job writing titles for articles, I'm going to remember this trick.

Here's a post with similar sentiments from IN FReeper hoosiermama on another Dick Lugar thread:

Am predicting a humongous “R” win in Indiana in the fall. Hoosiers are pissed. First: BO won by having out of state students register and vote here. Second: the discovery of signature fraud in placing BO on the ballot. Third: the enlightenment that Lugar hadn't even been residing in the state.

Mr. Good is simply repeating the Democratic Party line. It was the Party line well before yesterday’s election.

I would feel better if Gary were annexed by Chicago and joined Illinois. Go Hoosiers! Love you all!

Nonsense. Even if the premise were true, that would simply mean the DNC would have to spread its resources more thinly to keep the seat “in play” which might prevent them from being as competitive in other races.

I'm a Hoosier, too, and this comment is spot on. The only Democrat from Indiana that is likely to get reelected is Rep. Andre Carson whose district is mostly the city of Indianapolis.

AFAIK Mitch only did one commercial for Lugar that I saw and it was telling for what Daniels did not say. His praise of Lugar was lukewarm at best and I'm sure he only did it because Lugar called in a favor. It did not make a bit of difference in any case.

All of which makes Sen. Dick Lugar's loss welcome news for Democrats, who seem to have figured all along that their candidate, Blue Dog Rep. Joe Donnelly, would fare better against Tea Party-backed, Saran Palin-endorsed state Treasurer Richard Mourdock in November.

Oh. Well that settles it. Why bother with the election, then. We may as well fold up our tents and go home now. </extreme s>

Spin, baby, SPIN!!!!

The article doesn’t note that it was the Indiana Republic Party, and Mitch Daniels, that asked Mourdock to run for Senate.

Coryn has already called M to say the RNSC(??) will support his election.

The one thing YOU WILL NOT HEAR these people say is that Mourdock won due to SARAH PALIN’s timely endorsement, which raised the profile of the election. I know it was the deciding factor for at least two of us.

End of article: “Or it could change the November dynamics more drastically in Democrats’ favor, as the race is no longer between two centrists, but between a moderate Blue Dog and a staunchly conservative Tea Partier.”

I read today that Mourdock will face not only a democrat but Libertarian Andy Horning in the November election. Andy ran against Carson many years ago and left Indiana. Seems he has returned.
