Sore Lugar
American Spectator ^ | 5.8.12 | JOHN TABIN

Posted on 05/09/2012 6:52:25 AM PDT by Qbert

Jim mentioned this earlier, but it's worth highlighting Dick Lugar's shrill parting statement. Though he says "I hope my opponent wins in November," it doesn't sound like he means it:

If Mr. Mourdock is elected, I want him to be a good Senator. But that will require him to revise his stated goal of bringing more partisanship to Washington. He and I share many positions, but his embrace of an unrelenting partisan mindset is irreconcilable with my philosophy of governance and my experience of what brings results for Hoosiers in the Senate. In effect, what he has promised in this campaign is reflexive votes for a rejectionist orthodoxy and rigid opposition to the actions and proposals of the other party...

[Snip]

This is not conducive to problem solving and governance. And he will find that unless he modifies his approach, he will achieve little as a legislator.

[Snip]

As the liberal journalist Evan McMorris-Santoro quips, he's playing the role of Democratic surrogate.

Apparently Lugar's much-vaunted civility is a courtesy he extends only to his left; turning to his right, he becomes a churl. Good riddance; I'm sure he'll do very well at the high-paying K Street job that likely awaits him.

“...partisan mindset is irreconcilable with my philosophy of governance”

Right there is the meat of the matter....”go along, get along” politics has brought us to where we are....that ..and the fact that while Democrats ALWAYS play the partisan card...RINOS are too wimpy to do so...

Nonsense. Lugar was sufficiently gracious for my satisfaction. Damn it, we gave him a gold watch when he wanted to stay employed. I don’t expect him to be leading big cheers for the victor just yet.

Lugar, since 1977. Seems he is nothing but a government employee welfare queen. About time he was made to get a real job.

A good friend of mine has a phrase describing sycophantic behavior:

"If you're above them in a hierarchy all you see is lips; if below, all you see is a**."

To which I would add the RINO corollary:

"To their left all they extend is cordial friendship; to the right vindictive hatred."

Regards,

TS

Time to start acting like team players, GOP-e...

Funny how that "team player" concept disappears whenever it isn't a central committee approved candidate who wins the primary. (C.f., Mookowski, Idiot-AK)

I'll make them a deal -- they come out in full force in support for the TEA Party candidates beat the "establishment" candidates in primaries, and I'll swallow my pride and vote for Romney in November. I can say this feeling pretty safe I'll never have to make good on my end of that deal.

DO NOT be surprised if you find inside the beltway establishment republicans clandestinely funneling resources to Joe Donnelly!

DO NOT be surprised if you find inside the beltway Establishment Republicans brazenly and publicly funneling resources to Joe Donnelly, and campaigning relentlessly on his behalf!

Remember, Republicans have a lot more in common with Democrats than they do with Tea Partiers.

” - - - In effect, what he has promised in this campaign is reflexive votes for a rejectionist orthodoxy and rigid opposition to the actions and proposals of the other party. His answer to the inevitable roadblocks he will encounter in Congress is merely to campaign for more Republicans who embrace the same partisan outlook. He has pledged his support to groups whose prime mission is to cleanse the Republican party of those who stray from orthodoxy as they see it.”

Yep. That pretty well describes why you lost this Primary election, Dicky L.

BTW Dicky L, did you become a Millionaire while in the US Senate?

If so, then I guess you found “Bipartisan Cave-In” to be a very profitable way of lining your sorry pockets at our expense.

BTW, BTW, to All: somebody clever an FR needs to take Dicky L’s pouty talking points and make some Campaign posters out of them!

POSTERS UP!!!!!!!!

Suggestions:

They also start thinking we elected THEM personally. Who we elect are representatives of OUR viewpoints. We find the candidate who most closely matches our beliefs and desires (sadly, it’s often just lip service) and we send that person to represent US in government. They forget they’re only there to do OUR bidding.

It’s funny that the media doesn’t lament the loss of blue dog moderate dems to hyperpartisan socialists in the same manner./s

"Nonsense. Lugar was sufficiently gracious for my satisfaction. Damn it, we gave him a gold watch when he wanted to stay employed. I don’t expect him to be leading big cheers for the victor just yet."

He's entitled to his opinion. But now I expect him to get behind the Republican candidate (the way we are expected to support the presidential candidate to beat Obama)... and no bashing Mourdock during the race, talk of a third party run, etc.

Did it ever occur to Dick that the meaning of 'bipartisanship' has evolved to mean republicans doing it the democrats way? Does he have two eyes and a functioning brain?

Are these RINOs that dense, or are they that dishonest?

"But that will require him to revise his stated goal of bringing more partisanship to Washington "

there are SO MANY things wrong with that statement

First - THAT IS WHY HE WON! Why would he 'revise' his stance after winning with it?

Second- Why would someone 'revise' what they promised the voters? That is why YOU LOST- you lie to get elected then 'revise' your stance

Third- good bye RINO a$$hole... ... NEXT? (why oh why couldn't we get rid of McLAME the same way last time!)

if you understand “accomplishment” the way Lugar does, ie, sponsoring new programs, then we need to hope that Mourdock doesn’t “accomplish’ anything...hopefully he will stop meddlers like Lugar who want to tinker with the economy through new regulations, rules, etc.....
