I thought that when Nelson Rockefeller had a fatal heart attack in the library that the end of the era of moderate Republicans was over, yet they keep showing up.

There is always going to be a "most liberal Republican Representative" or a "seventh most liberal GOP Senator" no matter how conservative the party is. Lugar's no Jacob Javits or John Lindsay, no Mark Hatfield or Edward Brooke. He's only slightly more liberal than a lot of other Republican Senators. His biggest fault: living too long and staying in office too long.

The difference between a Democrat and a Republican in Congress today is so slight it almost impossible to different ate. Instead of facing the important problems of this country, their only thought is to get reelected. None of the Representatives in either the House or Senate is will ling to take on the Financial Mess, Welfare,or any other major problem. Just Hunker down and stay hidden.

Nelson Rockefeller had a fatal heart attack in the library .....

I'm surprised you didn't correct that erratum. We both know that the library wasn't the "chamber" Rocky was in when he had his fatal heart attack. IIRC, he was going back and forth between two "chambers" when it happened.
