How the hell are they measuring temperatures to come to this conclusion? I’ve paid attention to the weather, both in my home state, and across the nation, and I don’t see where 2011-2012 was any warmer than any year in the past 10+ years. In fact, I’d say this was a cooler period. In fact, I have not seen a summer in the past 10 years that was warmer than summers I recall from my youth.
As yourself I’m in California. Southern California.
I’ll be happy to send copies of my heating bills to the author should he desire to know why I call BS on his article.

Thee 1950s were also very hot!
In Oklahoma, last summer was blazing hot and winter was very mild. I think my sister in MN reported the same (definitely a mild winter, I’m not positive about the summer).
I didn’t watch the entire country too closely because I think the global warming hysteria is a bunch of BS, but it doesn’t strike me as odd that the data says the past year was warm.
