How many different words are there for submarine sandwich, grinder, hogie, etc are there?

There are so many regional differences. They can be endlessly studied, but they can also be a source of confusion. Even here in New England we have variations. Think of a “cabinet” in Rhode Island vs. a “frappe” in Massachusetts.

Hmmm. Hero? Again, I think those sandwiches got their start on the East Coast. I think we always called them subs = submarines
