AND the brother-in-law of Dickie Scruggs!
I still contend that Lott was forced to resign in order to hush up his participation in Scruggs's bribery of judges route to fame and fortune. I also believe Lott should be in jail along with Scruggs. Club Fed or not.

He resigned when he did to get in before the law that disallowed former elected reps of the government to be allowed to make the big bucks for five years (?) lobbying went into effect.

“I also believe Lott should be in jail along with Scruggs. Club Fed or not.”

On that, you and I TOTALLY agree...except for the Club Fed part. Orange jumpsuits for all!
