New French president Francois Hollande launched an outspoken attack last night on Britains obsession with protecting the City of London from Brussels-inspired legislation. As David Cameron warned that the single currency is in extreme trouble, the socialist victor suggested that Britain is indifferent to the fate of the euro area and attentive only to the interests of the City. This is despite the fact that billions of pounds of UK taxpayers money is already being used to prop up the basket-case currency.

Aside from all the comments on substance which I mostly agree with.
But, how about the matter of style?
You get elected on Sunday and by Monday you are “firing broadsides” at a country who is, by all objective criteria, an ally?
Who does this? (I know, I know - my question is a rhetorical one!)
Can we at least sell both sides weapons?
As long as we sell to both sides, I am OK with it.
French president has a go at UK Government. So what else is new? The UK and France are and always have been at daggres drawn. This is the equivalent of a “dog bites man” story.
You don’t know the half of it. Most of the extreme BS we have to put up with from “La Belle Francais” never gets reported in the US. You’re separated from them by an ocean. We have 20 miles of channel, and there’s a tunnel been built under that.
Yeah, Paris is absolutely fantastic (apart from the fact that it is fulll of Parisians). BUT - that happy state of affairs is only achieved by moving most of the people, the dirt, the waste and the squalor into the suburbs.
