SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- An autopsy has found that artist Thomas Kinkade's death was caused by an accidental overdose of alcohol and prescription tranquilizers.
NBC Bay Area News reported Monday (( http://bit.ly/Jsgrvg) ) that the Santa Clara County medical examiner concluded that the self-described "Painter of Light" stopped breathing at his Northern California home on April 6 from a combination of alcohol and Valium.

Hey, they did this by the numbers....
He’s joking with you....
Drugs and booze...painted himself into a corner there...
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TOO MUCH!
You guys!
LOLOLOL.
The question is, did he drink because of the way his paintings look, or do his paintings look the way they do because he drank? Either way, it explains a lot.
LOL!
I liked his paintings too. He tried to show the light (and did) but all men are flawed. He had his demons but brought joy to many people via his paintings. His work is far preferable to the cold modernistic drek I see made by cool urbanites
His work has outdoors nature (that God made) worked into it
A sensitive man, broken by life. He was said to be very hurt by his divorce. Divorce is something that can ruin a sensitive person. Not everybody is tough, emotionally.
Why "bad art?" I don't own any of his paintings and don't aspire to, but he was a talented illustrator who developed a style that sold. Nothing wrong with that. Norman Rockwell is the comparison that comes to mind.
I suppose that Kinkaide had at least three strikes against him in the eyes of the arts establishment. He painted "pretty" pictures. There is nothing transgressive or political in his art, unless nostalgia is deemed to be political. And he sold, which must raise the demons of envy among most of our "serious" artists, who are running a scam and must know it.
You’re just too blinded by common sense to see! :)
Or, in this case, Benturpintine, evidently.
