Awesome, that will surely get the unemployment rate down to 7.9%

This is insane.

We are watching one of the top snack brands being slaughtered by unions.

I sure hope those 18,000 are happy with themselves when they are out of work. Some other company will buy the brand names and produce the cakes elsewhere.

Just because you send out 18,000 notices doesn’t mean you’re going to lay off 18,000. But they’d better understand that on the other side, 18,000 people just started looking just in case.

I would think the food nazis this is a problem offering two possibilities, neither of which is practically acceptable to them.

The cessation of Twinkees and Wonderbread versus 18,000 union jobs.

The federal WARN Act requires companies to give employees 60 days notice before closing a facility or ordering mass layoffs.

I wonder if Solyndra did this?

No problem ... the liberal MSM will be reporting that unemployment has reached a four year low in October. Would you believe 5.4 percent? That’s where we are going ...

I hope it’s not too late to buy 40 or 50 cases of Twinkies.

They’ll last forever, you know, with all the chemicals in them.

3 or 4 packs of those and a glass of milk...yum.

In college, my breakfast often consisted of 2 Suzi-Q's and a can of Mountain Dew.

Perhaps this will become merely a memory - instead of an option.

As long as Nabisco keeps making Mallomars, Hostess can do what they like.

The Hostess Products I ate as a kid are long gone. The stuff they make nowadays is missing something, taste.

What I really miss is Helms Bakery. They made the best Cupcakes I have ever eaten. It was a sad day when they went out of Business.

If I ever hit the Lotto, I would buy and restore one of the old Helms Trucks, find the old Helms recipes and hire a Bakery Chef so I could relive my youth. Oh yeah, that and buy a 70 Hemi Cuda convertible.
