Yes, agreed. Romney has too much chameleon in him, but that may work to our advantage. There's more of us (R's) than them (D's). Jim R would disagree, but Romney's performance in Massachusetts may be misleading, given the liberal environment in which he was forced to swim.
Since Rick and Newt's concessions, I've sensed a boldness in Romney. No doubt he's ready to pounce on our problems and will act decisively. I expect a freeze on hiring on day one, for example. Shrink the gubmint by attrition if not by wholesale dept. closings/consolidations. After all, that is his wheelhouse. Economy is his strength. He seems committed to reducing taxes, opening up oil and gas which will ignite the pent up economy. It will roar.
Socially, I have a hard time believing Romney -- a squeaky clean Mormon must I remind you--will move left, while the majority of the country is center right and moving right. In short, I hope and believe he'll be comfortable in a conservative environment, rather than stuck in a liberal cesspool like Massachusetts. He's already indicated he's willing to take on Obama, much more so than McCain ever thought of doing.
The real tugging will occur within the R's. If we can't tug him to the right as far as we like, we'll grow the T-Party even more until we can't be denied. Repeat; Romney will bend to pressure.

I agree. I think we’re going to see some fight in Romney that will make Obama cower. Mitt may have been a leftist bast*rd during his time in Massachusetts, but if he was a Newt Gingrich the Republicans would never get elected. I think the central question remaining unanswered is this - “Is Romney going to step up to the realization that the country is over if major government cutting and tax decreases do not occur and Obamacare is repealed?”
The pressure can be kept on Romney now that we have an alternative media, he won’t ignore his base. I do think it sucks that the GOP chose him as their Golden Boy though. So many other better choices.
