SAN FRANCISCO: Double whammy! City warns store after Occupy protestors smash windows
SFGate: City Insider ^ | 5/3/12 | John Coté

To the folks at Weston Wear, it was like getting salt rubbed in their wound.

The day after a marauding band of Occupy protestors smashed the Valencia Street clothing store’s windows, the owners got another jolt – a city citation notice for having graffiti on the plywood they had put up over the vandalized windows.

“It was just a head scratcher to us,” said Bridget Moore, the store manager. “It seemed there was no thought why we had a bunch of plywood up.”

The store’s four windows were smashed in the Monday night protest – ostensibly held over income inequality – and Weston Wear had them boarded up later that night. The next morning, Moore said, she discovered a small graffiti tag on the plywood.

. . .

Moore said that Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours after the protest turned violent, she found a city notice of citation taped on the plywood saying they had 30 days to remove the graffiti or face an escalating $500 fine.

Funny thing about San Jose. Every Cinco de Mayo the mobs in the downtown used to go around throwing bricks and rocks through windows. Our business was in the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose. Yes, the little bastards threw bricks through our windows destroying the finish on a $60,000 Bosendorfer piano. Glad we got out of there fourteen years ago.

Can’t even imagine what it is like there now.

There is simply something really weird and unhealthy living in a place where it neither snows or freezes. May be good for fruits and nuts but not so good for the long term mental health of Europeans whose brains evolved in cold dark climates. California is one strange place.

There is something really strange about a guy who knows nothing about CA and it's weather making stupid remarks on FR. Yes, there are some weird people here and lots of useless low life politicians, there are also many good people still living here.

Not only does it snow here in CA, depending on what part you happen to be in at the time, it also freezes, has up to 80 MPH winds, the occasional tornado, many fires and lots of mudslides and rain.

The conservatives live mostly in the NE portion, all those counties are blue but we are outnumbered by the population centers such as SF, Oakland and LA, not to mention Sacramento. All those illegals vote democrat and that is the problem here. Too many socialist and communist in office.

Remember FR is based in CA.

No kidding. I doubt if this "allendale" person even knows what real snow is. We had nine (9) feet of snow fall here in town (in California), in one day, last Winter. Try shoveling that!

You forgot to mention we get some of the hottest weather in the country as well. I also remember witnessing tornados and funnel clouds in the Central Valley one winter.

FReepers like to inslut California, and heaven knows the state deserves it, but you same FReepers need to understand that there are still lots of conservatives here who refuse to run away. I choose to be politically active and fight for my state. It is my home. My guess is that the ratio of Democtrats to Republicans is maybe 60/40. That’s ~13,000,000 republicans more or less.

Without this state you would not have Free Republic or had President Reagan.

Funny also, how if you scratch these leftist wackjobs in California, you find most of them are from out of state anyway. I tell those people to go home and mess up their own states.
