“In the Loop” With Peter Capaldi, Tom Hollander, Gina McKee, James Gandolfini, et al. This is a sort of black comedy about the inside workings of the military and diplomatic corps of the USA and Great Britain when they’re mulling going to war with an unnamed Middle Eastern country. It’s frightening in that it’s probably pretty close to the truth. There is plenty of intimidation, back stabbing, leaking, and blame laying to go around while they put on a professional-looking face for the press. We gave it four stars, but I was outvoted by Hubby and would have said three.
“The River Murders” A murder mystery with Ray Liotta, Christian Slater, Ving Rhames, Gisele Fraga, et al. Happily married Detective Liotta [swoon] is first suspected and then assigned to the case of his ex girlfriends’ being killed off one by one. It has an excellent twist. It was really very good, and we both gave it four stars.
