...This Presidential campaign cycle is very different for our family than the one in 2008. This time around, we have a four-year-old daughter we adopted from Ethiopia two years ago...
Because weve had the audacity to appear in public with our family, weve been getting hate mail from liberals who are deeply offended that a white family would raise a black child (the Huffington Post posted a video of Naomi and me at CPAC and it generated more than 1,000 comments, many of them utterly vile). Usually, I laugh at baseless criticism and it inspires me to work even harder at artfully annoying my critics. But when I get accused of actually harming my daughter by daring to raise her, it infuriates me. See, for example, an excerpt from tonights Facebook message:
I feel so sorry for your little girl! She has a hard complex life ahead of her! She should not be raised by people who vote against her best interests.
(It was longer and much more offensive.)

Anyone who has actually endured the protracted rectal exam that is qualifying for international adoption will know the statements you refer to are on par with the idiots who showed up at emergency rooms demanding their "free healthcare."
That would be Mother Abigail. There is a FReeper here by that name, and also a FReeper named Randall Flagg. Seeing thier names on posts used to tickle me to death.
It’s wonderful book that I’ve read several times, and have the abridged copy, as well.
But, don’t delude yourself that Stephan King is a “garden variety liberal”. He’s as far left as they come.
In fact, not only had I read every book of his since “Carrie”, but I read the first four Gunslinger books when I found out just what a flaming lib he is, and haven’t read him since.
Because a kid is just a kid, you STUPID ASS.
Children are like Marines; they are only issued in one color, in this case the color is LOVE FOR A CHILD.
I don't know - makes sense because then the kid will get his $164,000 in reparations when Obama signs Executive Bill 8762 on his last day in office.
Thank goodness they didn't buy some kid from Mexico - we got enough of them already.
Okay - enough of my sarcastic rant. The Christian church is pretty active in Ethiopia, and wouldn't surprise me if they were on a mission trip, etc. My brother's family used to go down to Honduras and worked at an orphanage for many years. One boy my brother took under his wing, and after he was too old for the orphanage my brother paid for him to go to college down there. The kid changed his last name to ours - a good Scandinavian name at that!
Did you ever stop to think (apparently not)that they might want to pull a child out of some sh*t hole country that will just kill her or sell her into slavery and give the child a chance at a decent life. The adopted child is a human being just in case you didn’t get the word.
Around here its like a badge of special do goodery or maybe just easier to get one
Its not my business but here it is the provence of showy liberals
Whatever
Its not my thing
Lol
Sounds like you could get some argument on that here
No, you don't, because that is not an "opinion": it's a prejudice. And worse yet, it's a prejudice based on nothing but doctrinaire speculation without any real experience on your part.
Although, to address yours... as someone else said: A lot of you don't want to adopt an American baby because you're afraid you'll adopt a baby with problems owing to his/her mother being an addict. That, unwittingly, undermines the whole premise of adopting poor kids simply because they are in need of a loving home
Bullcrap. Who are you to judge what level of intrusion or burden a family determines it can tolerate?
What? If you can't feed every hungry person it undermines you feeding any hungry person?
How can you not be mortified by proffering such a vapid assretion?
Great question.
Go.
As in, go elsewhere.
Darn. My 3-month-old weighs 16.
Me too—Eritrea. They definitely aren’t into the black-American thing.
We have several Eritrean families in my subdivision. One evening I was out doing what I call “running,” and was just staying even with the old grandfather on his walk pushing a stroller. “Oh, are you running?” he says.
With 3 daughters and one female granddaughter fixen’ to turn two in a few months......
A glass front gun rack just inside the front door works wonders.
As an eye is cast it’s way by a first time visitor my reply is “Yes, and they all work.”
The Eritreans that I was/am friends with have since left the neighborhood, but we have several others that live in this area now. They do like to go out for their evening “walk” especially the older folks. There was another African lady in our neighborhood about a year and a half ago. She wasn’t Northern African. I forget which country she was from. She was visiting her daughter for several months. She would “pace” around the neighborhood everyday. Maybe she was bored while her daughter was at work. She would always speak to me even though she spoke very little English, but somehow we communicated pretty well with each other which was surprising. Really nice lady. I wish she would come back for another visit.

I have a friend from Nigeria who has no patience with the attitude.
We have other Africans here, too. Just recently, I’ve been seeing a middle-aged woman in a long skirt and something like a turban on daily walks. The Eritrean ladies wear their cotton-gauze gowns year-round, with coats in the winter!
