Exclusive: Red State Founder Erickson Fires Back at Sen. McConnell
Big Journalism ^ | 04-26-12 | Breitbart News

Posted on 04/27/2012 8:15:38 AM PDT by Lazlo in PA

Yesterday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell appeared on The Laura Ingraham Show and ripped into CNN contributor, radio talk show host, and RedState.com editor Erick Erickson. Erickson has been a consistent critic of McConnell’s; he recently stated in Roll Call that McConnell is “an appropriator before he’s a Republican.” McConnell responded, “That’s entirely inaccurate. I don’t even know who Erick Erickson is, but he has no audience as far as I’m concerned.”

This was essentially an attack not just on Erickson, but on the new media as a whole. It suggests that those on the internet have no credibility, and that they can be talked down to by their betters in the political bigwig world. And it's sheer nonsense, which is why McConnell found himself responding to Erickson in the first place.

Whenever someone is calling out McConnell for being a weak and incompetent loser, I am on board. He is the main reason the GOP isn't putting up any sort of fight in the Senate. If we take back the Senate and this piece of garbage is still the leader, we may have well have just left the Rats keep control. He is that bad.

Look. I know we are varying levels of “conservatives” here. I know we have our own beliefs, definitions, etc. But I tell ya, if we add Romney to the GOP power structure by electing him, it will be the END of Conservatism. They will marginalize us instantly. They will pass any liberal, or quasi-liberal, agenda that the liberal GOP Elite want. Obama, they will fight. Romney they won’t.

Romney will be worse for us than Obama. He will be our worst nightmare come to life.

You just argued that McConnel won't fight the admin, but then you said they won't fight Romney. Looks like this was just a pretext to shill for suppressing the vote for any Repub.

So, as we are coming up on your first anniversary on FR, who do you recommend I vote for?

Should I maybe just stay home, and not bother to vote for any Republican...?

In other words, somebody silence this guy. He's letting the $$$ cat out of the bag ( and people are listening).

The GOP is doing a real disservice if McConnell is ever allowed to be majority leader again. I can handle him as minority leader because he has done fairly well with parliamentary moves, etc. He’s a terrible spokesperson, though, for the party opinion. As time goes on, communications skill is #1 for any position. Unfortunately, with Boehner and McConnell, we have terrible representation on TV. A real opportunity missed.

What are you talking about? Romney’s name doesn’t come up in any part of this article or in my response to it. You don’t make any sense. Maybe you thought you were posting on some other thread or you are hitting the scotch bottle a little early on a Friday.

.........He's nothing but a typical American peasant. He's nothing like me. Besides, why isn't he out working right now? We've got social programs to pay for. If he thinks I'm going to take a cut in MY privilege, he'd better think again. Stinking low life citizens. I'm getting tired of their incessant whining. Don't they realize who I AM?"

“Whenever someone is calling out McConnell for being a weak and incompetent loser,”

Damn it seems like a never ending job for me, correcting the great unwashed masses.

McConnell is in no way whatsoever “weak and incomptent loser”, and it’s thinking like thise that makes it easy for our side to lose.

McConnel is a Big Government, New World Ordder Socialist, he is winning when he advances his agenda. If you may have noticed he helped the socialists big time in the lame duck session.

So, let’s root for exposing the fact he is a socialist, soon even Erik will get it right.

I don't know if I totally agree with you. Denny Hastert was a very good House Speaker and he was a fat, old, ugly, slow talking dude with thick glasses. He looked awful on TV and seemed very uncomfortable in interviews but he got real things done. On the other hand, we have Mr Tanning Booth with a $200 haircut running the House and a smooth talking southerner in the Senate and they are fully incapable of getting anything done.

His Ladyship McConnell blew it on the entire Obamacare debate. Then, he handed Obama back his presidency by supinely surrendering on key pieces of legislation immediately after the 2010 Election Day thumping we gave the left.

His Ladyship’s entire being is as weak as his chin.

Mc Connell may have something there. Erickson is a contributor to CNN and nobody watches CNN.

THe key to me is the part about not knowing who Erick Erickson is. He really doesn’t know.

So how can we assume he’s dissing all conservatives on the internet?

Mitch is smart about some things, but simply unaware of many others. He’s in his own world.

But he’s not the real issue...he’s merely a symbol of the system we have. He cannot stop the EIGHT GOP who defected to vote with the Dems on a bill the House is fighting. Senators will not be intimidated by threats. They are too high and mighty for that.

We elected a tea party senator from Wisconsin. He seemed tea party to the core...endorsed Romney.

The establishment is touting Kelly Ayotte from NH for near-future stardom. She’s all for Mitt. I remember when Sarah Palin endorsed her.

Marco Rubio...have you caught some of HIS latest pronouncements?

McConnell’s not my cup of tea, but I don’t believe he’s the problem.

The problem is so much bigger than that, it’s hard to know where to start.

We need dynamic leaders not sleepy and dopey.
McConnell comes on the TV (rarely) and my eyes start drooping. snore.
Boner comes on and I reach for the tissues.

B1 Bob, where are you when we need you?

B1 Bob was seen as a bomb thrower and halfway nuts.

That’s why he was never in leadership, even when he was there.

Well your head will explode when Palin eventually endorses Milt too. Last I checked, Palin was a Republican in good standing and if you don't think everyone in the party isn't getting on board, you haven't been around long enough. It is what happens.

McConnell’s not my cup of tea, but I don’t believe he’s the problem.

Wrong. There are constant reports leaking out when big issues hit the Senate exposing McConnell as the main barrier to getting Conservative votes up. Time and time again, folks in the Senate show where Tippy Turtle himself shut out Conservatives to make nice with Reid. Without him, real things could be accomplished in the Senate. One man can effect an entire system.

The problem is those who make a career out of politics are intellectual whores by nature. They say what is necessary to get elected so they can (1) get along with other political whores (2) make deals (3) get reelected. How this culture can be seriously broken by rank and file Americans is beyond difficult. Our country is being turned into a socialist style Euro state before our eyes and our culture destroyed by cultural marxist political correctness and therapeutic watered down Freudianism. The second process guarantees that the sort of citizen required to maintain a republican form of government will be replaced with sensual self indulgent consumerists with no strong moral or ethical beliefs. The perfect population to keep the political whores in power.

The fact that McConnell doesn’t even know Ericson just illustrates what kind of out of touch dinosaur he is.

4) Become filthy rich overnight. (Politicians go to Washington as paupers, and retire multimillionaires (somehow) every time. Have you noticed? I have. )

That was the most surprising part of this story to me too. He isn’t aware of where the base and activists in his party get their information? This idiot probably yells at his staff that David Brinkley isn’t returning his calls so he can get on his Sunday morning show.
