This primary season was really ugly and a lot of people, old and new, left because of the piling on or were banned. I even left for a while. It’s going to take a long time to heal those wounds. Lots of people will never come back and have found new homes at other forums.
That’s a major reason why the donations are down hard. Another reason is because people have been cutting their budgets because of the slow economy and inflation.
The owner has to find a way to survive and I, for one, don’t begrudge the use of ads if that’s the only way.
I didn't mind so much the bulk of the primary season, although the Mormon FReepers and the Mitt supporters could certainly be expected to feel differently.
It has been these last few weeks that have been disappointing to me.
Its going to take a long time to heal those wounds.
Step 1: Stop inflicting wounds.
Step 2: Heal wounds.
I’m okay with ads as well.
I’ve always contributed in the past and have only delayed this go round because I am committed to speaking my mind and there are people (several) who immediately ping Jim when they reply to me.
Back in the schoolyard we would have called them tattletales.
Their aim seems to be to get me banned because I want to get rid of Obama and don’t buy their foolish rhetoric.
Why would FREE Republic want to get people banned?
Beats me.
I remember when Free Republic was a heroic bastion of liberty.
Remember when this site took down Dan Rather and protected George Bush from being crucified with a lying scheme by CBS (was it CBS).
Now it seems to be a favorite sport here to belittle George W. Bush.
What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on?
I have no objection to ads, but I have no objection to supporting this site with whatever pitiful sum I can come up with.
If I survive this primary season, I will do so.
