The few things he was criticized for like “instate tuition for illegals” where beyond his control. It was unvetoable.

Except that Perry didn't just say that. He also called critics of the policy heartless. Which means he agreed with it in his own heart.

That fits into my previous points to you about Perry not being ready for this run. Perry could have positioned his signing of the bill as carrying out the will of his constituents. But by ripping into those nationally who disagreed with the concept, he basically alienated those he needed to sway over to his side, and also showed support for the bill fit in with his own personal beliefs. That was a lethal double-blow from which he never recovered. He hadn't thought that one out, IMO. Which shows a lack of preparation and analysis about the office he was running for.

Yes, and when he heard the blow back, he said that was a lamentable choice of words.
But there was no understanding from the howling dogs.

Screw his stellar record.
People hounded him!
