You gotta be kitty'ing me!
Well I'm not Kitty'ing here either: Tonight they vote on whether or not to have a local income tax! That's right, in addition to Federal and State.. kind of like BIG cities like NYC do, Concord will vote tonight on the little town having a local income tax. The "rationale" is that it would help "decrease" property taxes. You and I well know, unless it is voted on to REPLACE the property tax, it will be used to MAINTAIN it... and add revenue with income tax.
I see an exodus of renters from Concord.
My little town, population 1,600, about 200 miles south of Chicago, has a cell phone tax of 11¢ per phone. I have 5 phones on my plan thus my "city" tax is 55¢ per month.
The grabber is, that one of those phones is for my mother who lives another 300 miles from here, in Missouri and in a different area code.
Why do they do this? Because they can.
