So, once again by the time we have our primary in Nebraska, there is NO CHOICE as to what candidate I will vote for. Something really needs to be done along the order of having 3 primaries - one for the East, then a month later one for the Midwest, then a month later one for the West. As it is, much of the country has no voice in the selection process.
For long time residents of most of those states, it's something they've come to expect every four years.
If we're honest with ourselves, the die was cast when Santorum stayed in and Romney took Florida.
That's likely also why there's such a low turn out for Primaries. In Pa we rode the edge, voting for Newt was a pleasure for me though the handwriting has been on the wall, still one does not underestimate Newt, but he had everything thrown at him by the Romney/GOP/Media and Santorum not releasing his delegates to Newt was a sure give away....this whole mess was all about keeping Newt out.
I sure wish Santorum had not been the GOP man he played out to be. I was hopeful maybe his ego wouldn't get hyped as it usually does....but he couldn't resist the glory once again. He had both Romney and Newt to play with to advance his career...and he did that over the country...also typical Rick style. He has secured his position now and we shall hear about that with time and tide.
It seems party registration matters in only a handful of states. I democrat in NH has more say in the Republican primary than you do...
I'd rather have all primaries on the same day and have them all CLOSED, so only registered Republicans can vote in them.
I know that's never going to happen, but it sure would stop people from just voting for whoever has the most delegates at a particular point in time. And it would sure stop Dems from "stuffing" the Republican primary ballot boxes.
