I don’t think Rick was bought off. I think he was simply being a team player, something that has often gotten him in trouble in the past. Rick ran a good campaign and I’m glad he put up a strong fight for conservative values. But after his primary endorsement of Specter over Toomey several years ago, I’m not surprised to see him endorse Romney in the general election. (Not that there’s anything right with that.)

Santorum said Alito would not be a Justice if it weren’t for Specter.

Specter was very effective at being the head of the Judicial Committee. Toomey would not have been the Judicial Committee leader, plus Toomey might have lost the election at that time. Specter won the election by a good margin.
